It has taken me almost a year to put this page together for Maggie. I really can't say why it has taken so long. I just could not bring myself to do it. Maybe it was denial....I don't know. But, Maggie did pass to the Rainbow Bridge on May 1, 2002. We knew Maggie had cancer. It had only come up as "lumps" just under the skin. We had them removed as they came up. As a guess I think we had maybe 4 or 5 removed over the past 5 years or so. Well, in late March or early April of 2002 she started having accidents in the house (something she NEVER did) and she also would want to go out to do her "business" every 5 or 10 minutes. We made an appointment to bring
Maggie to the vet. Everything seemed to check out OK. So, we came back home. On April 30, 2002 we brought Maggie back to the vet. Dr. Morse felt and could tell that Maggie's bladder was full. So, he brought her out to empty her bladder then brought her back in and felt again. Her bladder was still full!!!!!! Even though we and the vet thought that he was not going to find anything good we scheduled surgery for the next morning. Because we were afraid that it would not be good we decided that if Dr. Morse did the surgery and found that he could not "fix" the problem, he would let her go on to the Bridge then and there. So, Karl and I got up very early the next morning (surgery was scheduled for 8:00 a.m.) and went to the vet's office to see Maggie before he put her "under" for the surgery. We told her goodbye "just in case". Dr. Morse found a huge tumor that was basically blocking her bladder...that is why she could not empty her bladder. Dr. Morse called us while Maggie was still laying on the operating table. He told us what he had found and that he could not "fix" it so we let Maggie pass on then and there. We all miss her very much. It was very difficult for Daisy too. Daisy moped around looking for Maggie for weeks. Don't ever let anyone tell you that animals don't grieve.
Maggie...we all love you and miss you very much! |
