Hi! My name is Karletta but
Mom and Dad call me Karly "for short"! I came to live
with Mom and Dad on September 14, 2007. I came here as a
"foster child". My birthday is May 11, 2007. I was
born at a kennel . I have a birth defect so they couldn't sell
me. The lady who runs the kennel called the rescue vet for 7 Bells
Sanctuary. Doc KNOWS how much Grandma Judy LOVES Dachshunds so he
called Grandma Judy. Of course, Grandma Judy said yes! So, I
came to Mom and Dad's house until my furever home came along. I
won over Daddy's heart so this is my furever home now! I just came
right in and made myself at home! So, the way it all played out
was that Grandma Judy had a couple of folks contact her about adopting
me. Mom told Dad. He was OK until the next morning.
The next morning Willie and I were running and playing like we always do
and Mom and Dad were watching us and laughing (like they always
do). Dad looks at Mom and says something about how Willie and I
will miss each other when my furever home comes along. Mom tells
him that yes, we probably will miss each other but that both Willie and
I will adjust and we will be OK. Dad says that having to adjust
just isn't right. So, Mom says that there is no choice...Willie
and I will just have to adjust. Dad then tells Mom to get the
adoption contract and fill it out. So, Mom filled out the contract
and she put both Dad and Willie's name on it! She made Dad and
Willie sign it too! She got out one of her ink pads and put
Willie's paw print on the bottom of the contract for his
signature! So, I am a Timmerman now! Now,
I'll tell you about my "birth defect". The rescue vet
says I have something call hyper extension of the knees. He said
that I could end up growing out of this as I run and play and the
muscles in my back legs get stronger. But, Mom brought me to meet
Auntie Sally. Auntie Sally runs a rescue for dogs that have all
sorts of problems. Auntie Sally has seen all sorts of stuff!
When she saw me walk and run she said she thought I had TWO problems
really. One is that she thinks I have a "fluxating
patella" in my right leg. From what we can gather that
basically means that my knee pops in and out of whack. She also
thinks I have a spinal problem. That only makes sense since my
tail is whacky and my tail is an extension of my spine. Mom will
bring me to her vet in a week or so and see what he says. But, no
matter what the problem is, I have NO trouble running and playing and
I'm not in any pain. So, no matter what this is, I'll just keep
running and playing and Mom says I won't have to have any sort of
surgery (if that is even an option) unless I get to where I am in pain
or if I should get to where I can't walk and run and play. |
