Hello everyone!  My name is Jolly Rancher but Mom and Dad just call me Jolly!  I just got here yesterday and I am SO looking forward to my new life.  See, I came from a commercial breeding facility where my only job was to make more little basset puppies!  Those days are over now!  I am now looking for my "furever" home!  

Mom says I am WAY socialized to have come from a commercial breeding facility.  I don't act scared of Mom at all and only a little scared of Dad!  Mom says that is a good thing!  I don't mind the other dogs here or even the cats!  

Mom is on an email list called the Daily Drool.  The list has ONLY people who love basset hounds on it!  They have all sort of get togethers with their bassets!  I hope to be able to go to some of these and then tell you all about them!  We already know there is one coming up later this month that isn't too far from where we live.  Mom says we will go so that Gertie and I can meet some more bassets and basset people!

OK...gotta run now!  Being a basset I feel I must take a nap!

HEY!  Just wanted to drop in and wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Things here are going along really well.  I have finally settled in some.  The first few nights I didn't do very well.  I was just anxious.  I woke Mom and Dad up in the wee hours of the morning barking!  Needless to say they were NOT happy!  But, I'm all better now!  I sleep through the night on my big pillow on the floor.  Also needless to say Mom and Dad are MUCH happier with me now!  I guess their unhappiness had something to do with me laying here and sleeping all day but them having to be awake and working.  I don't get it but, Oh Well!  LOL

We have a foster puppy here.  His name is Lil Willie and he is quite a hand full!  Mom says that I must have been a really good Mama because I let Lil Willie climb all over me and bite on me.  As a matter of fact, if you click over to my pictures page - http://www.chappysplace.net/jollypics.html - you will see a couple of pics of him BITING me!  He chews on my ears, my jowls and my legs.  His little puppy teeth are sharp but that's OK as long as he doesn't bite too hard.  If he bites too hard all I have to do is growl at him and he stops biting so hard.  So, it's all OK!

Well...that's about it for now.  Just wanted to pop in and give you all an update!

Hey Y'all!  Just thought I'd drop y'all a few lines just to let you know how things are going!  Things here are going just fine!  I have settled in even more now.  I'm not as scared as I was when I first got here.  At first Mom or Dad would have to put a treat for me on the floor and then back away a little bit before I would take it.  Well, now I take it right from their hand.  If they are sitting or if they squat down and put their hand out I will also come to sniff their fingers and then let them scritch my nose.  I do seem to get bored when Mom and Dad aren't home or at night when they are sleeping though!  I would get into the trash can in Mom's office and drag out paper and just rip it to shreds!  What fun!!!  For some reason Mom and Dad were NOT thrilled when they saw my decorating skills with tiny bits of paper!  Mom went out and got some bigger chew-type toys for me and now I don't do that very often!  I do not get into the kitchen trash can though so I'm not looking for food stuff....just some paper to decorate with! 

Well...that's about it!
